— the Premise
Garrett Daniels spent his career – his calling – saving species on the edge of extinction.
Now, in the ashes of a civil war, humanity has stumbled on the impossible: a nest of powerful dragons slumbering deep underground.
And he's the only person alive who can bring them back from the brink.
In a new clandestine arms race to control the beasts, his wife and three children have been taken by a ruthless enemy faction. His own government conscripts him into a secret program to breed the dragons as living weapons. Compliance is his only bargaining chip for his family's return.
Refuse, and he loses everything.
His world shattered and his faith shaken, Garrett’s only choice is to bring his skills to bear.
But as his connection with the dragons deepens, the less certain he becomes who the real enemy is: the faction holding his family, or the men giving him orders. And the less the creatures in his care feel like weapons, and the more they feel like something worth protecting.
Conscience or compliance.
Compassion or control.
Bond or betrayal.
A reckoning will come, but only if Garrett can become who his family – and the world – need him to be.

about the author
Graham Northrup is a screenwriter and novelist, producer, director, and educator with a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from Baylor University. His career spans live theatre, independent film, branded content, and education.
As a storyteller, Graham is particularly excited by science fiction as a framework for exploring ethical dilemmas currently facing humanity. He also likes to put ordinary characters in extraordinary circumstances - to "put them through the wringer."
With Dragonborne, he hopes readers will find themselves biting their nails on a high-stakes adventure with equal parts action and mind-bending discovery, while grappling with the cost of moral courage.
His experiences with his own five daughters make him highly attuned to the resilience of young people. Graham often features teens and families in his stories, such as his sci-fi thriller GIFT, where siblings must navigate a dangerous world and decide when to use - and when to conceal - an extraordinary power.
He has produced and directed a feature film (An Aspen Christmas Conspiracy) along with several award-winning short films, and he's currently developing a slate of original sci-fi and genre projects in addition to Dragonborne.
When he's not on set or at the keyboard, you'll find him somewhere in the mountains of Western Colorado with his wife Stephanie.
